Philadelphia recap

We have finally recovered from our whirlwind trip to Philadelphia. Indy Hall Grand Opening It was an awesome, exhausting, energizing and fun time. Everyone we met in Philly was overwhelmingly friendly and eager to share their city with us.

The trip started out when we landed in Philadelphia airport at 5:20 AM. Alex Hillman and Bart Mroz were there to pick us up. Both of them seemed all too awake and chipper for that early in the morning. After spending most of the day exploring Old City and South Philly on foot it was time for the Indy Hall grand opening. We met so many great people at the party. Not only was everyone interested in what Bar Diver is doing, but they were all doing such interesting and cool things themselves.

BarDiver.com Bar Crawl Once the party was winding down it was time to start the bar crawl. We started at the Khyber for a few lagers and then it was on to Sugar Mom's for billiards and beer. Our next stop was Lucy's where we only stayed long enough to down a shot and then move on to National Mechanics to meet up with the rest of the Indy Hall guests. The crawl was a great success, and after it was over we were able to get just enough sleep to do it all again.

On Sunday we started early with beer and baseball at The Dark Horse. From there it was just a few steps to Kildare's where we met a very friendly bartender who gave us some tips on where to hit next. We continued on to Tattooed Mom's where we enjoyed some candy, and arts and crafts with our beer. After a quick rest back at Indy Hall we were on or way to Passyunk Ave to continue the crawl, but not before a quick mojito at Cuba Libre. We started our Tour de' Passyunk with dinner and a selection of fine beer at the South Philly Tap Room. Next up was La Cantina Los Caballitos where we washed down our chips and salsa with more beer. It sounds like a lot already, but we didn't stop there. Pub On Passyunk East was our next destination. After a round of beer and some fine songs from the jukebox it was time to move on. We made it to the Dive Bar just in time for last call. It was Magic Hat #9 all around while we discussed the weekend's events. After closing, we had enough time to pack up our gear and catch a cab back to the airport for our early AM flight home. No sleep for the Bar Diver.

Thanks to everyone who made this weekend happen.
Geoff DiMasi, Alex Hillman, Bart Mroz, Alex Gilbert, Ruth Kalinka, and David Martorana are just some of the people that made us feel welcome and showed us the best time in Philly.

Also a special thanks to Flying Dog for donating all the beer at the Indy Hall grand opening.
