The 1601 is what happens when a venue manages to marry the quiet charm of neighborhood life in South Philadelphia with food and drink capable of quieting even the most persnickety critic. The beer selection is beyond reproach, featuring, among many others, all of the latest Dogfish Head brews. In addition, one can actually get a Hendrick's martini the way it is meant to be prepared: with rosewater and garnished with a cucumber slice. The fare is both refined and satisfying, and the quality makes the 1601 a fantastic value. Fans of the Philadelphia Tap Room, the Standard Tap, and Good Dog will find the 1601 fits in quite nicely in that vein.
